I found this to be a fascinating read. I'd like to hedge by saying I have no idea if the intensity of this piece is warranted. I'd also like to mention for the seven billionth time that all opinions are my own (and if I were speaking on behalf of anyone, it could only be Zombo.com).

but I think it would be really interesting to talk to GCP engineers and see how they talk/think about customers who use old stuff and don't want to upgrade. not leadership, just your rank and file overpaid minions. I'll bet you someone (not I, who merely work as a principal engineer for Zombo.com) could make some real interesting comparisons.

what are the aspects of one's experience doing engineering at company X that inevitably end up reflected in the products of company X--particularly if those products are aimed at engineers?
